Bio Diverse Gardens evolve through the relationships between the gardener, the soil, the climate, and a diverse collection of living plants and beneficial organisms.  The plants that are invited to inhabit the garden, are recruited, not only for the benefits they directly provide to the gardener in terms of food and beauty; but also for their benefits to the soil, other plants, and the creatures that help control pests and provide pollination.  The Bio Diverse Garden is not an activity that begins six weeks before the last frost and ends with the onset of winter weather.  It evolves, slowly, over many days and seasons.  The gardener, through observation and experimentation, learns a deep respect for nature's balance and relearns the true human role--as a steward of that balance.

Bio Diverse Gardens Provide:

~ Food for people, wildlife, and beneficial creatures ~
~ Year around beauty ~
~ Climate mitigation--by providing shade, wind breaks, carbon sequestering, and diversity ~
~ Protection for top soil from depletion and erosion ~
~ Safe recycling of household decomposables ~
~ Flowers, greenery, pods, and branches for arrangements and crafts ~
~ Herbs for flavoring, tea, and medicine ~
~ Habitat for wildlife and beneficial creatures ~
~ An outdoor laboratory for learning about ecosystems and nature’s cycles ~

Gardens, as well as all the minerals in our body, find their start in the soil.  To begin learning about soil and the Bio Diverse Garden, the power point program “Decolonizing Soil” is highly recommended. Site visits, consultations, and custom programs are also available.  Contact Harvest McCampbell for more information:  harvest95546@yahoo.com Please use "Bio Diverse Gardens" as your subject line, so your e-mail is not mistaken for spam.

"Harvest McCampbell inspires us to relearn connectivity to the Earth, which may be our best hope of reclaiming our planet. Connectivity to a place makes people feel responsible for protecting it. Encouraging Harvest's brand of self-sufficiency seems like a great way to distract us from mass consumerism and get back to really taking care of ourselves."
